"The Phantom"

"Ghost in the Shell SAC Volume 3"

"The Phantom"
Call me a sucker (not so loud think of the neighbours) but I have always loved The-Ghost-Who-Walks right from the reprints of the old pulp mags back in the '60s through the weird and wonderful "Phantom 2050" animation to this laconic performance by Billy Zane. When I saw it for one pound (I think you can get a fish for that) in CEX I wasn't going to turn it down. ADDENDUM: "Cloverfield is going for £0.75p or a £1 for the Steelbook

"Ghost in the Shell SAC Volume 3"I have been waiting for this to pop up somewhere for the best part of 2 years. I now have 1 - 7 with no gaps so I will start watching them soon. "GitS" movies 1 and 2 were fantastic works of art with number 1 a masterpiece, visually and aurally with the animation and score working in perfect harmony. It was like watching a Zen Garden being created in pictures and music. A truly beautiful film.

Of course I'm not expecting the same level of artistry in SAC, that would be far too much to ask for in an Anime series but I enjoyed the original idea behind both films so I'm going for it!

"Cult Terror Cinema" This turned up in the post today. I must have accidentally ordered it whilst on Diazepam a couple of weeks ago as I have no memory of it at all but order it I did! (Sodding "Single Click Ordering" on Amazon). Still, it looks like I have taste and discernment even when out of my box on prescription drugs. Thank all that we atheists don't hold holy that I'm not on them anymore!

And to think I only went out to put my sick note in and get my "Iron Man" comic

Went totally nutty with this arriving today as the result...I own this on vhs and dvd already...but this was so cheap!

Not my favourite Ed Wood film but strangely compelling all the same,I'm really looking forward to watching this on bd.

Vampira,Criswell and Tor Johnson in HD!

As usual with their b/w film releases there's a colourized version included but I will be watching the original b/w version.

Plan 9 from Outer Space (1959) (Legend Films) -- Blu-ray

The colourized version greatly amplifies the camp quality and does help to see a side of the director that you don't see in the original version unless you've watched the "biopic" or read something about him.

I watched both the black and white and colourised versions when I first received the BD, expecting the worst from the colourised one, but it was pretty well done. That said, it's no match for the one we know and love in the film always looks better in monochrome.

As I recall, the commentary (or commentaries) are very good.
