Anyone know how I can directly email Zavvi? The message box in their help section isn't long enough and in super ****ing pissed off about them submitting to Hi Def Ninja's bitchin and whining and changing the back of the Wreck It Ralph steel book to something super ugly.

Just ordered THE LOVES OF PHAROAH German blu ray from alpha-omega'S website. Have been eyeing it up for ages. They did a full restoration on it a while back and its got brilliant reviews. Its a 1922 silent from Ernst Lubitsch. Can't wait to see it, I've been bowled over by how good these old films can look, e.g. Eureka's CLEOPATRA (1934) release and Cohen's THIEF OF BAGDAD (1924). Also picked up the 1940 Michael Powell and Korda version of THIEF OF BAGDAD out in Germany & France.

Well, if we're talking Video Nasties Bay of Blood, is really one of the finest, and if that's doesn't count for much, I'll add it's one of the maestro's best films. For years, this one was known to me as Blood Bath, the title I first discovered it under but recently I've been referring to it as Bay of Blood... I never liked the slightly unwieldy Twitch of the Death Nerve, whatever that even means... Sean Cunningham insists that he had not seen this Bava before he filmed Friday the 13th - I'm still not sure if I believe him or not...

If anyone was wondering about Salvation Films I got my copy of The Night Of The Devils today, from the UK. There was a P&P charge (taking the total to just below £19), but it still worked out cheaper than direct from Raro at around £22.50 and a risk of customs. It took them a few days to send it out, but once they did, it arrived pretty fast. |
