I felt that it went too far unnecessarily and at the time, the structure felt fake and gimmickry and the shock scenes felt like shock value for the sake of it. When nothing controversial was happening, the characters talked about sex and nothing else.
I felt that there was a point, but Noe did not need to go far as he needed to prove it. But I have to give props to the guy - he gave it a go - he created a work and put himself out there to be judged by appearing in public. He did the equivalent of an author putting a signature to his work, standing by it.
I won't give up on it, but it will be some time before I will revisit it.
In fact, there's a very good chance I will revist it in a more positive light - Baise Moi is still in the to-watch pile. |
