I'll admit - I really did not like Irreversible. I felt that it went too far unnecessarily and at the time, the structure felt fake and gimmickry and the shock scenes felt like shock value for the sake of it. When nothing controversial was happening, the characters talked about sex and nothing else.

I felt that there was a point, but Noe did not need to go far as he needed to prove it. But I have to give props to the guy - he gave it a go - he created a work and put himself out there to be judged by appearing in public. He did the equivalent of an author putting a signature to his work, standing by it.

I won't give up on it, but it will be some time before I will revisit it.
In fact, there's a very good chance I will revist it in a more positive light - Baise Moi is still in the to-watch pile.

I'd leave it there, terrible film that has nothing to offer the viewer what so ever. If you want good violent porn, there is plenty out there...

I was making a flippant comment about a crap film, "Baise Moi", and the fact that there are better, more honest films of a similar nature out there. I appreciate that you may not be a fan of these type of films but I am.

Yes, I enjoy what are called roughies from the 70s and early 80s.

Have a look at The Green Berets with John Wayne for 'so bad it's s**t', makes F13th 3D look like Kubrick(well on a very very bad day) or the likes of Lesbian Vampire Killers for true excrement as film
F13th 3D seems just another generic slasher next to those.

I'd rate Irreversible on exactly the same level as Baise Moi. Both absolote terrible films, shocking just for the sake of being shocking. Both are films I will never watch again.

Dunno, I thought The Room and Birdemic were so bad they were just plain unwatchable. I've sat through plenty of so bad its good films over the years but they were just tests of patience for me. The third Friday was unorigional and very generic but it was actually quite a bit of fun. It's certainly better than the Friday the 13th remake which was poorly paced to the point of being dull in many key scenes, very badly shot and generally missed the spirit of the origional series. Part 3 wasn't as good as part 4 or part 6 perhaps but certainly 90 minutes of daft fun.

But then each to there own.
