Let me guess... plays dvd-fine, cd-fine, USB content-fine, but BD-fail, that damn tiny lens for BD is really bad news for longevity, my Philips lasted just over two years of above average use before spitting out every BD that goes in, the sad/funny thing is it displays "unkown disc" um... no, it's a BD that the crappy mini lens can't read anymore, I can't see well myself but I'm over fifty years old

Well actually it had trouble with a couple of dvd's,some dvd-r's and one or 2 bd's but I wasn't going to wait for more trouble, The JVC was about 4 years old now.
Panny seems to play the troublesome dvd-r's fine, checked one yesterday.
Also upscaled pic quality of dvd and usb content seems to be much better (to my surprise),haven't really checked bd quality yet.
And there's other advantages which I'll be explaining later after some more testing.

My Blu-ray & DVD purchases in February. It would have been a quiet month, had someone not mentioned the reduced prices various marketplace sellers were selling Scream Factory and various other films at. I already have the Universal Halloween II release, which is superior in the PQ department, but at the price I couldn't resist picking it up for the features and the TV cut, which I've never owned before. Still a few older SF releases I need to get that were released prior to me being region free. No idea why it's taken me this long to get Night Of The Creeps, I love that film!

It's been a great month for UK releases, Dead Of Night, Phantom Of The Paradise, Dolls, etc. I'll be watching Captain Phillips prior to the Oscars on Sunday, and will probably double bill it with Wings. I hear 101 Films made a slight boo-boo with Lord Of Illusions (forgetting to include the DVD), and the news of SF putting out an edition with both cuts in HD is a little annoying, but with 5 potential BD releases in their Cult Horror line, depending on the performance of Lord Of Illusions and Dolls, I thought it a good idea to support it.

Looking forward to the goodies March has to bring. Great line-ups from Arrow and Eureka, and Trick or Treat!

Major, major score today. Whilst in town I had a quick pop into the local Salvation Army charity shop to see what videos (if any) they had. Well, there in front of me sat Ruggero Deodato's The Terminators on VFP and Ralph Bakshi's Hey, Good Lookin' on VTC. As good as it was getting the pair for £2, the thing that practically made my eyes do a cartoon leap out of their sockets was when I opened up the VTC box and found one of the old catalogues inside. I used to have one back in the '80s and flicking through has brought back a wealth of memories. I think it will have to be something extra special to be able to top that score this year. Happy days!

BTW, I've yet to see The Terminators. Is it one of the better Italian cop thrillers?

It's very tongue in cheek, almost subversive.
I really liked it myself.

I know it's apparently a bad disc but it was cheap enough.
