Not to derail the thread, but I just read this news and needless to say I'm somewhat appalled by this news as a film lover.

BBFC changes: A major threat to indie DVD labels?

'The Evil Dead' steelbook that is up for preorder on AmazonUS has been confirmed as single disc only. Which is disappointing.

Absolutely ridiculous. The law says that labels have to have their releases reviewed and rated by the bbfc. But the bbfc get to charge for this even though labels have no choice anyway?!?

Correct me if I'm wrong, not saying its good news by any stretch, but doesn't this mean that most niche market films will be picked up by distribution companies who can actually afford to put some special features in that have to be rated? The independent distributors wont lose sales because they cant afford to have things rated, they just wont include all the special features...

It just seems like another money grab by the government ratings board to me, you dont see Disney putting 18 or R-rated commentaries by voice actors in the bonus features, the BBFC can fuck off...

Pre-ordered the Phibes boxset. Excited for that one.

The Burbs is the Tom Hanks film right? Currious about that one.

Oh, and my copy of Phantom of the Paradise just arrived.

Sounds like typical knee jerk protect the kids nonsense from our useless government. Bit of easy vote grabbing. Would be worth contesting the decision in Europe imo...
