It's more the dual-layer Blu disc itself, the PS3 is a good 'canary down the mine' test as most units will get much heavier use with games/films than a stand alone player, my Philips Blu-Ray will read a single layer Blu in mere seconds but finds all dual-layer Blu an 'unknown disc' after just 2 1/2 years(of heavy use) so the laser is fine in itself, perhaps Dual-layer Blu is just too hard to read after the lens/laser is only a few years old.

The 2-3 years is with regards to Dual-layer Blu playback not the overall life of the player.

Me too. I have had the same player since 2005 and it is still going well despite at least 25 hours/week or more usage. To be blunt, and without having a pop at the OP, the post looks like ill informed nonsense.

If I'm honest, to me the format is irrelevant, if you like to watch films on a 8 mm projector cool, just for me the margin for error on dual-layer BD50 playback seems too small, so when asked why I buy so many dvds against Blu that's the answer, as I said I'm not having a pop either, just one of a myriad of views on stuff you'll find here.

Corpses (Mosaic UK DVD). From the synopsis, sounds like it could be a hidden gem. Though I've been let down before by that haha. More when I've watched it!!
