Which version did you watch, reaps? The shorter or longer version?

I'll probably plump for the US Blu-ray, which has the longer cut on it. :)

HMV have The Shining in they're 2 x £25 BluRay range.
I did'nt get a good look as i was in the queue but Resi Evil 2 & 3 were also visible along side a few superhero films like Wolverine , and I could also see the Bond films Casino Royale and Quantaum of Solace. (forgive spelling)

They also have a selection at £10 including Day of the Dead Remake.

AFAIK, the longer version was only shown once while Kubrick was alive (ITV 1991), and I've read that he was not best pleased by the ITV broadcast.

I may be wrong, but I think Japan got the long version on laserdisc in 1996. Also, the Australian blu ray is now the long version, but I suspect Warners (or Leon Vitali) have acted against SK's wishes here. I'm just glad the shorter version didn't disappear after his death - some people prefer it.

It's a strange thing, though - people often mention that Kubrick prefered the international cut, but I've never read a quote or interview to back this up.

The shorter version on the UK disc mate.I'm not sure about the US version,as this is the version I grew up with.
I didn't think the corpses/ghosts in the hotel lounge fared very well.:(
But as I'm a Kubrick fanatic,I'll probably get both versions.:thumb:
Honestly, the opening shots of the film, have to be seen to be believed.
This is what watching movies is all about!

Recieved the Rambo trilogy from Japan the other day and gave them a spin over the last few days.Bought them for the extras which are missing from the UK and US discs and for the artwork. The individual cases come in a nice sturdy box that also has space to slip the latest Rambo film in as well (although I din'nt realise it at first.I thought it was strange that they would make the box too big and slip a white piece of carboard in the space lol.All the films look really good even if someone has went into overdrive with the DNR on First Blood.Unfortunately RAMBO III doesnt have english subtitles during the Russian dialogue and First Blood doen't have the Sylvester Stallone Commentary that is on The U.S. disc so I put the region A discs that I already owned in the cases with the Japanese discs and I was all set to go :)
