You haven't seen The Big Lebowski, Trebor? I'm surprised, but really hope you enjoy it because it's a terrific movie and Jeff Bridges' The Dude is all the all-time great film characters. I don't think it's the Coen brothers' best (that honour goes to Miller's Crossing), but it's perhaps the most consistently funny and quotable of their varied and very distinguished oeuvre.

You have a hell of a lot of catching up to do. Everything they have made is well worth watching; most of them truly great movies. I don't think you need to do it in a chronological order, but starting with Blood Simple wouldn't be a bad idea. They are heavily influenced by film noir, with Blood Simple, The Man Who Wasn't There, Miller's Crossing and even The Big Lebowski easily classifiable as 'neo-noir' films.

I thoroughly recommend 'O Brother, Where Art Thou ?'

Personally, I think it's the best film they've made thus far. It's just an absolute joy throughout, if ever I'm feeling a bit under the weather, O Brother is guaranteed to cheer me up.

The Coen's have only made a couple of films I'd be reluctant to recommend. Ridiculously consistent.

Some new arrivals from Hong Kong (DDDHouse) and 2 French collectors.
Tiger on Beat on blu (English friendly) and a really cheap (like new) One Armed Swordsman Trilogy French blu boxset (not English friendly though...but if you know what the HK blu box set goes for: US$91.49 + shipping, paid less than 21 Euro all in for the French one).
Luckily Mandarin with French subs is no problem here.

Also picked up the French dvd of weird and wonderful Taiwan flick Magic Curse, unfortunately it's not English friendly (French audio only) but it's the only dvd worldwide...It arrived sealed with a pricetag of 9 Euro but I only paid 0.9 Euro (plus shipping).

Must admit that the only Coen Brothers film I truly like is the one they wrote for Sam Raimi - 'Crimewave'

Is that me banned from the forum?

Millers Crossing is superb and long overdue a rewatch. Lebowski is ridiculously entertaining given nothing much happens. I also highly rate Fargo and i think I'm one of the few that likes their remake of Ealings The Ladykillers. O Brother Where Art Thou, on the other hand i hated.
