I believe that because it’s not anamorphic widescreen you can fit more time for the same quality because it uses less pixels!

It's 4:3 that probably explains it.

Got The Stand today as well. Had a quick scan through it and it looks pretty good. My only gripe is that I was hoping it would've included the opening & closing credits on all the episodes, but it just the same version as the old Artisan dvd, full opening credits on episode 1, closing credits on episode 4, and episode title cards at the beginning of 2, 3 & 4.

Still hoping some day to get the original version of the 1990 IT miniseries. They just cut out the whole opening scenes from episode 2 with the credits for the vhs/dvd/blu-ray.

I got the mini-series Shogun on Blu-ray dirt cheap recently and the opening credits had been removed from all but the first episode, the end credits had been removed from all but the final episode and the individual episodes had been re-edited in order to make fewer longer episodes. The series looked great and I enjoyed it very much indeed, but things like that make a release less enjoyable for me.
