Smokey and the Bandit - Positive proof that Dem was living under a rock in the 80's.

Or training to be a ninja.

Take your pick.

I was five when it came out in 77. The eighties weren't really about movies for me. I barely went to the cinema. Although i rented quite a lot of videos, whimsical films with Burt Reynolds weren't my thing when i could rent Scanners, Kindred, and Electric Blue compilations.

The late 80's and early nineties i was too into the hard rock music scene DJ'ing at clubs, partying, girls and so on.

Were you watching Smokey and the Bandit when you were 16 - 24?

No i was born in 74 so i was 6 when the 80's hit.

I just remember it being on TV constantly when i was growing up.

All i remember missing when i used to go out as a teenager etc was Colin Baker and Sylvester's Dr Who era's.

Now i'm a boring old fart i can catch up with 'classics' i missed such as Smokey and the Bandit.

I might have seen it, back then, i can't remember. I just know i've never owned it on vhs or dvd before.

I dunno about a classic, but it's definitely of it's time.

I used to watch a fair bit of Burt in the 80's as a kid.
Him and Clint, Clint's films hold up better.

Yeah you see i rented all the Clint's i could get my hands on. Tightrope, Firefox, the Dirty Harry movies.

It was basically me. I wasn't into fluff like Smokey and The Goonies. I was never really a fan of Ghostbusters much. Again why would i rent such films when i could get my paws on The Exterminator and Treasure of the Four Crowns.
