Two arrivals from Germany, The Running Man and the Uncut 101 minute version of Rambo Last Blood because I refuse to buy the UK version missing the entire opening 12 minutes.

For a film to be missing few seconds is one thing but a whole 12 minutes is ****ing mental, What’s the reason behind that ?

“Stallone apparently was pretty brutal when cutting the movie up and decided that as this didn’t really add to the major plot then it had to go for some audiences.

The actor wanted to get the film down to 90 minutes and decided that removing this entire scene was the best way to do it. “

Curious, i had no idea the UK release was chopped down. What sort of material does the extra 12 minutes add?

I understand it's a scene in which Rambo is rescuing people from a storm. As it isn't integral to the story, Stallone decided to remove it for a shorter running time.

"A Rambo: Last Blood extended cut was quietly released on Amazon Prime and the new version runs 12 minutes longer than the theatrical cut. While there are a handful of new scenes, most of the new content is dedicated to a prologue set the night before the film's proper opening. This sequence, and the resulting fallout as depicted in other new scenes, goes a long way towards defining John Rambo's character and explaining his actions during the film. As a result, the Rambo: Last Blood extended cut is superior to the theatrical version.

Rambo: Last Blood's new prologue is set during a monsoon that sees Rambo searching for a trio of lost hikers. He finds the first, a woman, dead from drowning. Later, he finds the other two, a man and a woman. While he's able to save the woman, the man runs off, refusing to accept the death of his wife - the woman Rambo had discovered earlier. As Rambo returns to base-camp with the girl he rescued, the body of the man who ran off is being loaded into an ambulance.

He tries to explain his grief to his confidant and housekeeper, Maria. Rambo explains how he couldn't save the hikers, just like he couldn't save his brothers in Vietnam. And so, Rambo retreats to the caves beneath his homestead where he's tormented by the grief of the man who went off to save someone who was already dead, losing his own life in the process. This triggers Rambo's existing PTSD, which results in flashbacks to his time in Vietnam, seguing into a scene from the theatrical version."

In a storm that forces even the police helicopter to turn off, only Rambo is still in the forest area as a volunteer helper, looking for three hikers. The woman is already dead when Rambo finds the husband and daughter. When a flood of water pours from the mountains into the valley, he can only save the daughter, himself and his horse by strapping them behind boulders. The man also dies because he would rather search for his wife. In the end, the policemen and the daughter thank him, but he leaves very tight-lipped...Back at his ranch, he takes the horse back to his stable. He throws in a few pills and then goes into the house where his housekeeper Maria makes him a coffee to warm him up. She says she's already heard what happened. Rambo is not happy with the fact that he couldn't save everyone, something that he couldn't also achieve for his comrades back in Vietnam. Maria says he is not in the war now, he is only in his head. Rambo says it's hard to turn off. Then Maria mentions that Rambo would remind her of his father, as he sits there in the chair, silent, making things out with himself. But he has done a wonderful job running the ranch and she is grateful to him that she could stay there and he helped her raise Gabrielle. Additional scene
The absence of this scene is again attributable to the prologue, which is missing in the US version, because the content refers to it. Rambo and Gabrielle come out of the underground corridor system and he asks them how last night was. She says that not so many people came to the party because of the rain and that she heard from Maria what happened. She asks him if he is okay and if he knows that it is not his fault that people died in the storm, he tried his best. He agrees. Then she asks him if he wants to go riding and he tells her to get her riding boots. [39.52 sec]"

Am I one of the only ones who keep the cellophane on the outer sleeves?
I make a nice cut down the opening and slide the box out.
I have left titles on the shelf before because the cellophane is ripped or hanging off. :madgrin:

Not at all. I too try and keep the cellophane on at all costs.

A few examples from the collection. Must have had the Die Hard collection for twenty years and it's cellophane is still intact. The Fly limited edition has become a bit frayed over the years in the top left corner because it's a shitty plastic case but other than that is fine and any dvd or blu that allows removal of the disc without removing the cellophane gets to keep it's coat on.

A craft knife is a dvd collectors best friend.
