It's justifiably regarded as one of the greatest psychological horror films ever made, a masterpiece in paranoia-based suspense and mystery.

The review I wrote some years ago ended with these final thoughts:

"Rosemary’s Baby is one of the most elegantly shot and classy of horror films, completely the opposite of something like The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, but somehow equally disquieting and unsettling. It isn’t an outright assault on the senses nor are there jumps and bucket loads of blood as it works on a different level with the ambiguous ending more disturbing than that in the book.

This is one of the few examples in the horror genre where high art meets popular entertainment and the film was extremely successful at the box office and critically, with Ruth Gordon well deserving of her Academy Award; the film spawned a host of religious-based horror films which reached their zenith in 1973 with The Exorcist, each having their own imitations that failed to reach the heights of the original films.

This is a film that I like very much and can enjoy and appreciate as much as The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, The Exorcist and The Evil Dead – all very different and all great horror films in their own right."

Ta. I started watching it on Disney Plus last night. I hope it's the same print as it looked superb.

My latest purchases were a mini boxed set on DVD -- I hadn't purchased a DVD in years, I think! -- with two of the five surviving TV episodes with Peter Cushing playing Sherlock. I already had these in another UK edition, but itr was irresistible for €3 at a charity.

Then Cushing again for another upgrade, this time the Severin edition of And Now the Screamning Starts (1973), upgrading from a really bad Spanish DVD edition I've had for ages.

Finally, Kino Classics' Forbidden Fruit No.14: Nudist Life with quite a few obscure gems of that sub-genre of the "nudie cutie" that is the "nudist camp nudie". No commentaries, unfortunately, like in No.3, but the 5 (five!) shorts as extras kind of make up for it.

Thanks for reading!

Does the Severin And Now... look really good?

I love the film but it's been off my radar for ages.

I currently have the Dark Sky dvd version which is a big step up from the Euroshock Collection dvd from Image i owned previously.

Well, I received it yesterday, so I only browsed through and took a look at the image quality. For me, it's millions of miles away from this:

My Spanish edition is 4:3 and whenever there is movement, you get lines from the compression (?). It's awful and I'd been looking for a decent upgrade for it. Running time for my DVD is 86m and Severin's is 91m. Given the state of my DVD, any upgrade would do

I wish I could show you the image quality of the BR, but VLC is unwilling to even open it on my PC...
