It’s likely to be the result of shoplifting rather than people trading them in after legitimately buying them.

Wouldn't be surprised with the types I've seen in my local cex.

It happens in Liverpool too, I remember seeing a brand new release fully stocked in CEX once and every last one of them had damage to the case the same spot where someone had prised off the red security tag from the middle of the box.

Can remember having a shop called MVC here many years ago. Two lads in there one day just dragged armfulls of new releases off the shelf and legged it.

I used to like MVC.

I remember once in a sale i bought the entire Space 1999 on about twelve individual dvds - four episodes a disc.

You had to become a member or their prices were silly.

And on incidents like this is when I agree with the Muslims law cutting hands of thieves , pain the arse and a total bane to society .

That's right. Was easy to he a member though. Got some real bargains in there during their time. We had another shop I loved as well called Silverscreen(?) I think it was. Sales were excellent. New prices were awful. And there aftersales was crap. But deals when they were on were brilliant and their stock was awesome.
