I've got the DVD version of this: David Forgacs does a seriously good commentary on this which helps greatly.

What horror film/films along the line of Walker's Man of Violence does BFI do?
As bizarre eye said, BFI don't do much horror - but a couple of releases which might be worth checking out is Institute Benjamenta and Alice (which is coming out later this month and is extras laden); BFI is putting out Un Chien Andalou/L'age d'or in HD at the same time.

You could also look at other Flipside titles such as Herostratus and Privilege. The latter's by Peter Watkins who did The War Game and Punishment Park.

I was referring to The House That Dripped Blood but I'm after Tower of Evil.

I have both Alice and L'age d'or on pre-order and am very much looking forward to seeing what BFI have done with these (Alice in particular, as I'm a big Svankmajer fan).

I have the old BFI DVD release of Un Chien Andalou/L'age d'or that came in the oversize white box, and it is a very nice release.

It seems as though some of these BFI titles are going OOP (when looking at some of the selling prices!) so anybody who is considering picking any up, I'd say to do so now before it's too late!

They are going out of print in the sense that they will be no longer blu only, but there are plans to re-issue them in dual format releases. According to MichaelB on criterion forum, the content with most will not change, but Herostratus will be different - the disc is being re-authored to combine extras with the full-frame 1.33:1 version of the film, while the reframed 16:9 is going out of print. And Comrades' extras are being downgraded to SD only.

I've got the white Bunuel box too - it's a lovely little package  It's just a shame that L'age d'or was cropped.

I will probably get Alice; I've also got Ozu on pre-order.

Having been blown away by GANGES and WILD CHINA on blu ray I decided to get some more BBC natural history docs on BD. Despite only being 1080i, the picture clarity really is mind blowing. I also pre-ordered the classic FALL OF THE ROMAN EMPIRE, released by Anchor Bay of all companies! (only £7.99 on amazon and play). This will go nicely with EL CID which is released on the same day (may 16th). :D

Ah, I see.

Looks like a case of crossed-wires!

Dolph Lundgren's version of The Punisher dropped through my letter box today, never seen it really looking forward to it too.

That can often happen when you have several conversations going at the same time in the same thread. On the same subject, I've just ordered Tower of Evil.

Getting back on topic, the last film I saw was this morning/afternoon when I went to the cinema to see Scre4m which is probably tied with Scream 2 of the best of the sequels and is so much better because Kevin Williamson is back as screenwriter.
