I have The Wire on both formats. They did a good job with the Bluray, overall it looks great, but some scenes lose their punch in my opinion due to framing and even make-up. Saying that, my brother watched the Blurays and didn't notice any difference, he preferred it in HD.

David Simon wrote about that, saying some of the CG effects and make-up (such as Bubbles' teeth) aren't as impressive as they were in standard definition. That said, I'm really looking forward to seeing it in high definition and in widescreen.

Surprisingly, and this goes for The Sopranos as well, I'm paying less for the Blu-ray box set than I did for the individual DVD sets!

Two more from All Your Music packaged together. Shipped in England, but this post is really just a warning that you will get charged should they do this from the States and the items are valued at more than £15.

Nope... neither is the one on Christine either, I'm guessing that Tootsie which is on the way is also the same. Why Germany?, Why you rate so ugly?

Yep, Sony Germany has changed to non-reversible covers. Really annoying after years of giving customers the choice of not having that huge ugly FSK logo on there.

I can understand as it's cheaper to print only one side, but perhaps a sticker on the case would have been better! It wont stop me buying them but i'll still have a moan

It's worse on music DVD/BD though as the record labels will do 'one for europe' and it ends up having 4 ratings on the cover

3 for a pound in a charity shop. 'The Wraith' is the big find here but I'll give the other 2 a spin also...

I didn't rate Lonely Hearts but the other two are real gems.

I've finally succumbed after 5 years and placed an order with those nice people at mrmdvd.com...it means that I'm now a Region A customer: thanks to those who provided information and 'encouragement'

Now I'd appreciate some advice as to where to look for the best deals. I'm about to place an order for Cannibal Ferox at Amazon UK...I want to avoid those nasty import charges if possible. Cheers.
