Lovely haul.
I managed to preorder Chinatown in the same offer, so the entire order (with Chinatown) was £150.

Impossible how it could be on a standard Blu-ray Disc.

Nope, it’s from a 4K scan, but the blu only has a resolution of 2K.

How does it compare to the 4K restoration of The Thing, something which is also downscaled to 2K?

Not in the same league. The Thing looks like it was filmed yesterday, which I found particularly impressive given I was already satisfied with the original Universal blu. Carrie to my eyes doesn't look massively dissimilar to my old MGM Special Edition DVD.
