Seven Days in May is very good. Have you seen it before, Nos?

I have it as part of a Burt Lancaster Turner Classic Movies box set along with Local Hero, Executive Action and The Flame and the Arrow.

No, they are all blind buys. I find it very hard to believe that a film directed by John Frankenheimer, written by Rod Serling, and with a cast spearheaded by Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas and Ava Gardner would not be worth owning.

I compared them and thought the standard Blu-ray Disc had a really impressive picture, but the colours don't seem as rich or the fine detail as clear as on its 4K counterpart. It isn't a 4K release which has the same visual 'wow' factor as Guardians of the Galaxy 2, John Wick, Planet Earth II or the first Blade Runner as they are demo discs but, in terms of the blacks, clarity, and detail, it's one I'm glad I have on 4K Ultra HD.
I take back everything I said about there not being much difference between the 1080p and 4K versions of Blade Runner 2049.

I was reading about my UBP X700 4K player in an avforums thread and I discovered that there are also additional PQ settings which can only be accessed whilst the film is playing (by pressing the remote's options button).

I've changed the picture settings to 'direct' rather than 'auto.' Auto was applying some noise reduction (why Sony have decided to make that the default is beyond me) and now it's switched off, Blade Runner 2049 and most of my other 4K discs now look much more impressive.

I'm glad you have your player sorted and your viewing experience is much better for the adjustment. It's probably a good idea to check your TV and make sure there isn't a 'motion smoother' setting activated.
