I too have ordered the complete Penny Dreadful. I have series one already, and watched it, but getting series two and three for slightly over £4 each is a no brainer.

Will say Rory Bremner is a revelation in PD imho.

I only knew him from Bond and Count Arthur

I too ordered The Tyrant King today. Have you seen it before, nos?

I don't think you'd be born when it was originally shown. I wasn't.

I wasn't born yet either.

I watched a couple of episodes when it arrived, i found it really interesting, reading up on it it was a test piece for the newly formed Thames television studio and was partly funded by London Transport.

It's basically 3 kids trying to unravel a mystery about a Tyrant king, it's slow moving story wise but it has loads of great location shots of London sights at the time so is a real snapshot of the sixties.

The main girl grew up to act in Tower of evil, The flesh and blood show and Satan's slave so that is of interest.

Also what really sold me on the show is that it uses some great music from the time such as Pink Floyd, Moody blues and Cream etc.

Let me know what you make of it, i've enjoyed it so far.

Yeah, it was Candace Glendenning on the cover that drew me to it in the first place.

So I pre ordered the criterion godzilla set THE DAY IT WAS ANNOUNCED from hmv, paying a £50 in store deposit, as Amazon & Zavvi couldn't fulfill pre orders on arrow's Burning & The Thing limited editions, and even though HMV couldn't get arrow's Last House release when i pre ordered it (ended up getting that from amazon), I thought I'd trust them with the godzilla set.

Got a text this morning saying "sorry, your order is no longer available, please return to the shop for a refund". So you can imagine how pissed I am!

Thete's 2 reviews on amazon & a photo of a bloke in Fopp holding a copy so somebody must have got it from somewhere, but seriously!!!!

Stop with the limited editions
And HMV: Just stop!!!

I'm not paying £333 on ebay for it.
Think i'll stick with my Australian dvds & the bfi disc of the first one.

I picked up The Tyrant King from a previous Network sale and watched it for the first time a few weeks ago. I really enjoyed it and it was in some ways as much an advertisement for London as it was a mystery series. It is a really interesting time-capsule.
