I seem to be disagreeing more than agreeing... I'll zip it now, I promise !

The Dark Knight

That's the only one I can think of at the minute. As much as I love the sequels I prefer Alien, Terminator, The Godfather etc

It is indeed, set a couple of years before if I remember correctly.
T2 is a good shout, it was while watching it on TV the other night that I came up with this thread idea, forgot to add it to my initial list

Yes, this is the same for me. I much prefer Alien, The Evil Dead, Terminator etc. to the sequels. I also prefer Batman Begins to The Dark Knight.

I've done a search and couldn't find a similar thread, but mods feel free to move or merge if I've missed one somewhere

What sequels do you guys think are better than the first film in the series?
Off the top of my head, I'd say the following sequels are better than the original IMO:

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

Probably a few more too

What's that a sequel to?

I've always seen it as a sequel to A Fistful of Dollars and For A Few Dollars More

Clint plays three different characters in three different films. The commentaries by Sir Christopher Frayling tell us the three films have nothing to do with each other.

Yeah, I know, but I always view them as a trilogy seeing as he's pretty much playing the same character each time. Like I said earlier, I was toying with the idea of adding it for that reason

Sorry Rik, i never saw your post in reply to Wes. I was just calling you names to myself and hitting the reply button rather than reading on.

Another way to look at the films, you'll notice that if anything The Good the Bad and the Ugly could be classed as a prequel as the Clint character picks up his trademark items - poncho etc, as the film goes along.
