The trailer doesn't really do it justice. Along with "Grosse Point Blank" and "Say Anything" it has to be one of Cusack's best films.

'The Thing'

A nice, dark, cold atmosphere for those long, hot evenings!

Shut the door on your way out

Personally, I don't really let the seasons define my viewing, although I guess the more 'summery' slashers (the Sleepaway Camp films for instance) and euro-horror fare (the Blind Dead films etc.) are usually more likely to be watched during the warmer months.

I've always found Weir's The Cars that Ate Paris and Picnic at Hanging Rock to be fitting viewing for the summery season too, as well as certain 'road-trip' films like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Race with the Devil.

A fair point!

I generally don't like the heat at all, so anything to take my mind of it is most welcome.

What?! Where? Rain and cloud here, I don't think it was sunny here at all today. Although I was in a windowless lab for most of the day. It was raining when I left, and cold!

Perfect summer movie? Mac and Me (which would be the perfect film to watch on the big screen in a park), The Aviator's Wife, Celine and Julie Go Boating, Les Valseuses, King of Hearts, Mildred Pierce, Village of the Damned, Carnival of Souls, The Birds, House & Evil Dead Trap.

Completely random, for some reason these films just invoke thoughts of summer.

Not that I do summer.
