Default Movie 'Nerds' In Movies

Hi fellow Movie Nerds,

Film Buffs, Cinemaphiles, Movie aficinados, Motion Picture experts...whatever you prefer!

There seem to be quite a lot of films (particularly horror) that features a character who is obsessed with horror movies. Whether they just have a bunch of horror movie masks/figures in their room, or they go on about the genre, I'm sure you've noticed it. It's not just horror, but other 'genre' films like sci-fi movies.

It seems more and more horrors are doing this lately, but it seemed to be a popular character back in the 80s too. A symptom of the post-modern

So, here's a thread dedicated to the best movie 'nerds' in cinema. They're normally the best characters in the film (which shows how awesome we are )

So, what films spring to mind?

Instantly springing to mind is Chip Sutphin from Serial Mom, he's obsessed with Herschell Gordon Lewis and naturally he works in video store!

I think movie nerds are basically there to warn everyone as they always know the back story.

On reading this thread the first thing that popped into my head was - and quite possibly one of the first examples of this.

Was the Twilight Zone episode the Monsters on Maple Street.

This is the one where all of a sudden everyones technology cuts off. So no electricity working, no phones, no cars will turn over, nothing.

Everyone is thinking nothing of it, till tommy said this is just what happens in my comic books. Its aliens doing it.

And then a mass conspiracy starts of who is the hidden alien in the street which wouldn't have happened without the nerd saying this.
