The problem is if we start counting superhero films then the majority aren't actually based on comics or graphic novels, so we in effect lose a separate weeks category of superhero movies.

While the majority of Superhero flicks might deviate from source material i don't get how you can say they aren't based on comic books.

It's quite simple really.

Is there a graphic novel or comic strip of Batman Returns for example, that the film was based on?

No!

Therefore it's not part of the original top 10.

Who said it had to be? Batman and every film the character has ever been in, including that hallucinogenic atrocity that is Batman and Robin is based on the Batman comic. Why does it have to be literal story adaptations???

Do you recall when we did top 10 films based on literature?

Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein for example fit the bill but Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell didn't.

It's just the same principle, surely.

Comic characters or story adaptations. I suggested comic/graphic novel adaptations because i genuinely thought that would be far easier than suggesting superhero films. It opens up to things like From Hell or Ghost World which I believe we have at least one fan of, but it could happily include the Marvel connected universe stuff or DC. Anything from Road to Perdition to Howard the Duck. Hell the Dennis the Menace film with Walther Mattau if you likes folks.
