To be honest I wouldn't have a clue what film is a literal adaptation or not what with having zero interest in comics and graphic novels, so I'm only going to be able to do one combined comic book/superhero list... plus, add to that I can't stand most of the new wave of DC / Marvel diarrhea masquerading as cinema I'm going to be pretty restricted in my choices anyway.

I do like Dem's expanded idea in some ways though - notably the Top 10 Worst list.

In case The Crow: Wicked Prayer doesn't count as a superhero film, I'll happily replace it with the utterly abysmal Superhero Movie.

The only reason why Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, a film which seems to be universally derided, isn't on my worst superhero film list is because I haven't seen it – I don't intend to either.
