Just to clarify the arcade connection, the kid is the best player of an arcade game called the Starfighter, so is chosen by aliens to pilot a starship in their war.
Oh and it's directed by Nick Castle, the original Michael Myers in Halloween.

Was a tough, tough call. Especially the 80's as Hollywood turned out some genuinely great popcorn sci-fi through the 80s'

A group of us also saw it in a virtually empty cinema. Preston UCI it was on at.

I came out muttering words like 'Wow'. I absolutely loved it.

Strange days was panned by the critics, however its being reasessed by more critics. I think its one of Katherine Bigalows best films.

Me too. Probably her best.

I just had to own the soundtrack once i'd seen the film. Juliette Lewis singing I Can Hardly Wait was a real highlight.

You like Robocop a lot then?
I take it you mean the sequel as well.

Looks like I missed some fantastic topics whilst I was away! 80's Sci Fi is it?

1. Akira (Probably cheating but I'll take any excuse to put this up top)
2. Blade Runner (The real winner)
3. Tetsuo: The Iron man
4. Back to the Future
5. Empire Strikes Back
6. Robocop
7. They Live
8. The Thing
9. Aliens
10. Videodrome

Runners up to Lifeforce and Night of the Comet, who were just a bit too cheesy to go into a list filled with such honestly good films.

This was a struggle, there's probably 20 80's sci fi films I consider 10 star viewing
