Only two of those films (The Sting and The Last Emperor) won the Best Picture Oscar.

No. In fact, The Sting and The Exorcist were nominated the same year!

I have a blog with a list of the Best Picture winners which you might find it easy to browse.

But then i'm not really a gangster film person, and i have the attention span of a goldfish, so long films seem a struggle nowadays.

With a lot of mediocrity picking up shiny trinkets courtesy of The Academy this is actually quite tough to rank.

Top 10 Best Picture Winners
  1. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
  2. The Apartment
  3. The Silence of the Lambs
  4. The Lost Weekend
  5. Rebecca
  6. On the Waterfront
  7. The Godfather
  8. American Beauty
  9. Birdman
  10. All About Eve

All great films, just don't ask me to extend it to a top 20!

1961: West Side Story
1962: Lawrence Of Arabia
