I disagree. The drugs industry in general operates as a business. Just not a legitimate one. Scarface isn't 'just a drugs film' . I would argue that description is very reductive and overly simplified. Oliver stone who wrote the film fully intended it to be a critique of the American dream with Tony Montana on a notation alger ride to the top as a self made man. The film draws many parallels with 80s business culture as a result and is possibly as much a critique of the 80s as wall street was.

@ Keirarts and Nos - you've both brought valid arguments to the table which i can't argue with.

I'm surprised no one's gone for Psycho. After all Norman does run a hotel. Or Jaws. |

As for Jaws, the book and film are slightly different in who is pressuring the Mayor to keep Amity open during the 4th of July weekend, but it's also about a series of businesses struggling to stay in the black and someone turning to desperate measures to (pun intended) stay afloat. This is something I really like about this thread – it can throw up all sorts of left field suggestions which make you look at films in a completely different way and consider parts of the narrative and character arcs which had probably been ignored before.

I had to include a documentary. There's loads of good ones out there like Wal-Mart the high cost of low prices and corporation. I included Enron smartest guys in the room as it's possibly the best account of corporate culture running totally amok with no accountability. I highly recommend it.
