Excellent list, Demdike, which isn't too dissimilar to the long list I have already compiled. However, I haven't included Five Graves to Cairo for the simple reason that I haven't seen it! Prior to today, I hadn't even heard of it, but will see if it's available on Netflix or Prime Video to watch at some point next month.

Thanks to everyone who contributed a list of their favourite films set in a hotel or motel – there are plenty to pick from and led to a lot of interesting and varied lists.

Again, it would be tempting (and probably boring) to ask for your list of top 10 Halloween films but that might be something you may wish to do today or tomorrow to commemorate All Hallows Eve.

This week, try to think about films where toys – in the widest sense – come to life. This sometimes happens because of science, sometimes magic, or sometimes it is never fully explained. The list could include childhood Disney favourites, more contemporary family movies or those which are much darker and feature animated toys (or other usually inanimate 'playthings') with malevolent intentions.

"THE TOYS, THE TOYS ARE ALIVE!"

Very good and varied list, about half of which (Dolly Dearest, Pinocchio's Revenge, The Magic Toyshop, and The Nutcracker Prince) I haven't seen.

You are correct about Xtro, so that's an interesting addition and a film I really need to rewatch.
keirarts, bleakshaun and MrBarlow like this.
