A variation on it is used as the first line of the most recent 'Meerkat Movies' advert in cinemas!

My thanks to those who contributed their favourite movie taglines.

This week's topic is quite a simple one and will reflect your taste in films and what names would draw you to to buy, rent, or watch (whether in the cinema or stream) a film based on the name of the person who directed it.

FAVOURITE LIVING DIRECTORS

Favourite Living Directors

This subject isn't something i'm happy with as directors nowadays don't work in one genre or another. They make all types of films and on the whole i can either take or leave them. A director no longer makes me want to watch a film unless it is one of the few listed below and even then their involvement is no guarantee it will be brilliant.

So, in no particular order.

Clint Eastwood
Steven Spielberg
John Carpenter
Dario Argento
Tim Burton
Peter Jackson
Enzo G. Castellari
Quentin Tarantino
Martin Scorsese
Paul W. S. Anderson

Good list, and interesting comment about the 'genre hopping'. I like directors who show an ability to excel in different types of film, with Steven Spielberg as one example of a director who has done everything from sci-fi to war, action-adventures to historical dramas. Similarly, Clint Eastwood isn't confined to one genre and I would always look forward to seeing the latest film by both directors.

I notice your preference for Paul W.S. Anderson over Paul Thomas Anderson, something you've written about before – I'm completely the opposite!
