I could do a top 100 for this. I've tried to mix in some classics others have mentioned along with a few that might not get mentioned.

I've tried doing this a few times over the past week and like many have struggled to keep it to 10. I could easily have done double.

Nosferatu
Frankenstein
Freaks
The Old Dark House
The Uninvited
Cat People
Night of the Demon
The Damned
Night of the Living Dead
Schindler's List

Schindler's List. Interesting choice. I wouldn't really call it a horror film but parts of it are certainly horrific.

I appreciate it's a stretch but the events depicted in the film are far scarier than any ghosts and ghouls.

I wouldn't have classified it as a horror film either. Also, because the beginning and end are in colour, plus the sequence with the girl in the red coat, I'm not certain it is, strictly speaking, a black-and-white film!

That's true. Doesn't the same go for The Pianist, The Boy in Striped Pyjamas, Son of Saul, Shoah, and Come and See?
