I don't think Moon and Forbidden Planet qualify under the 'spacecraft and space station' category because most of the action takes place on board a satellite or planet, not a man-made craft. Planet of the Vampires is a good choice because the two spaceships serve as the main locations.

Dohhhhh! But I love them anyway!

Okay I'll replace them with Ikarie XB-1 and Silent Running (not everybody's cup of tea).

I haven't seen Ikarie XB-1 and hadn't heard of it until now! I love Silent Running – it's going to be at the top of my list, easily in the top three.

FILMS SET ON A SPACESHIP OR SPACE STATION
  1. Alien
  2. Silent Running
  3. WALL-E
  4. 2001: A Space Odyssey
  5. Serenity
  6. Sunshine
  7. Solaris (2002)
  8. Apollo 13
  9. Event Horizon
  10. Jason X

Really tough to leave out Solaris (1972), Star Trek: Into Darkness, Life, Planet of the Vampires, Passengers, Dante 01, Galaxy Quest and Spaceballs, but that's my top 10.

Thank you to everyone who contributed a list of their favourite films set on a spaceship or space station.

For this week, the topic is devoted to perhaps the greatest year for films: 1999. All films released that year (except re-releases such as A Clockwork Orange) qualify.
