So far, I've only come up with Clint Eastwood films! :lol

Not really a genre I've explored that much.

Yeah, i've seen a few really good ones, but perhaps Nos could also suggest another topic such as a year for example.

Horror films from 1960 or Top ten movies from 1960 - that sort of thing.

I'm guessing you've got 1960 sorted then.
I'd go for 62 just to make shit complicated.

No, not at all, never even thought about it. I normally say 1970 but i think we've done that already or perhaps it was 71.

How about expanding this to films sets during any civil war?

There are several films I can think of set during the English Civil War, others during the Spanish Civil War and there are quite a few on the African continent, from Hotel Rwanda to Blood Diamond, so that would allow you to look at films from around the world and not just those set in the US.

Without looking into it too much, these were the first 10 US Civil War films I came up with:
  • The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
  • Dances with Wolves
  • The General
  • Little Women (2019)
  • Lincoln
  • Glory
  • Gettysburg
  • Gone with the Wind
  • Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
  • Two Thousand Maniacs!

There are quite a few films on your list which I haven't seen or even heard of but I'll do a bit of research about them now. For instance, I'm aware of The Red Badge of Courage but know very little about it.

I've no idea how I forgot The Outlaw Josey Wales when making my provisional list – it seems so obvious now!

I wouldn't include The Birth of a Nation on my top 10 because I think it's a great film, but it's also one with horrendous racist overtones. It's a film I appreciate rather than like. I haven't seen

Birth of a nation did push the boundaries a little bit , the films I put on the list i seen on either TCM channel and YouTube, there was one film I can't remember the title about two sides teaming up during a civil war to fight zombies, if i knew the title them it would have been added.

Was it Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter or Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies, Two Thousand Maniacs!, or the remake 2001 Maniacs?
