Your Christmas Movies! Whatcha' Watchin' this Christmas season?

Following the October Halloween Fest and Noir November it seems almost rude not to have a thread where you can review and discuss the Christmas related films you watch in this festive month of December.

From It's a Wonderful Life to Bad Santa, Gremlins to Christmas Evil and everything in between.

Welcome to the thread and Merry Christmas to you all. :xmasjig:

Scrooge (1951)

The definitive version of Charles Dickens classic Christmas tale of redemption featuring the definitive performance of Ebenezer Scrooge by the brilliant Alistair Sim.

The film is quite creepy to begin with. The striking black and white visuals and jarring music making the appearance of the ghosts quite frightening to begin with which in turn makes the film more faithful to Dickens original ghost story than the subsequent watered down versions that were to come over the next decades.

Sim's performance is so good you actually believe it as he slowly redeems himself and gets a second chance which it appears he can't quite believe he deserved. It's then that Sim's Scrooge goes from mean spirited old man to a delightful grandfather figure and a staple of Christmas viewing for years and decades to come.

Highly recommended.

Great idea for a thread, which will allow me to watch more seasonal movies throughout the month than I usually do, and follow what others are watching.

Because I have a presentation to do at university later this month and three assignments to submit at the beginning of January, I won't have time to write any lengthy reviews, but will try and contribute with brief posts (poster, title and couple of sentences) about the films I watch.

Lethal Weapon
LA Confidential
Black Christmas original
Gremlins
Don't Open 'Til Christmas
Silent Night Deadly Night
Die Hard
Die Hard 2

And of course every December, the Ghost Story for Christmas boxset gets rolled out,my favourites being,A Warning To The Curious,The Signalman,Stigma and The Stalls of Barchester.

I've actually had lots of people at work tell me Lethal Weapon isn't a Christmas movie, and have to explain to them that any movie set during the festive period is a Christmas movie.

I generally watch films including Gremlins, Gremlins 2, Brazil, Bad Santa, Don't Open Till Christmas, Silent Night, Deadly Light, It's a Wonderful Life, Die Hard, Black Christmas (original) and whatever is on TV that I don't own and looks good.

Most definitely.

It was the first movie i watched last year when i put the decorations up.

The year before it was Die Hard.

Might go with Reindeer Games this year...or the remake of Miracle on 34th Street.
