The Ghost Stories for Christmas boxset came today and I decided to watch them in chronological order, so I've seen three so far: Whistle and I'll Come to You (1968), The Stalls of Barchester and A Warning to the Curious) and have loved all three. Next up: Lost Hearts.

I shall watch the 2010 version of Whistle and I'll Come to You in due course.

Went on a DIE HARD trilogy marathon yesterday with those nice Japanese sets.
Cracking boxes.just a pity all the books are in Japanese!

Christmas just isn't the same without them!

For instance, this is how my viewing has stacked up in relation to the Ghost Stories for Christmas so far:

Whistle and I'll Come to You (1968)
The Moon Over the Alley (1976)
Whistle and I'll Come to You (2010)
Sightseers (2012)
Saint (2010)
The Stalls of Barchester (1971)
Christmas Evil (1980)
A Warning to the Curious (1972)
Topaz (1969)
Lost Hearts (1973)
What did you think of Topaz MR B.E,?

I remember (vaguely) watching it on TV when I was a lot younger. I couldn't remember much about it other than some basic plot points, so seeing that it was a Hitchcock that I wasn't overly familiar with I was curious to check it out again. Unfortunately despite it being a well-made film technically speaking I found it really hard to engage with the characters or the story-line and frankly it bored the arse off of me at times.

I'm glad you said that. When i saw the Inspector had asked what you thought it intrigued me as i too thought it was boring as hell.

I've finally located the Classic Ghost Stories with Robert Powell dvd. I thought i'd somehow lost it.

Embarrassingly it was in a pile of films i watched last Christmas but hadn't put away yet.

Whilst not as good as the Christopher Lee series, Classic Ghost Stories is still a good watch. Clocking in at around 15 minutes they never outstay their welcome and Powell delivers them with ease.

I watched The Ash Tree and The Mezzotint. I adore The Mezzotint, it's a wonderful short story and one i went back to in the series....

I've just finished watching The Ash Tree, and about to begin Wailing Well – top stuff so far.

That said, The Mezzotint is the best so far.
