I'm finally getting round to watching Christmas stuff.

Carry on Christmas specials.

Made for TV and filmed in front of an audience shows how they can be funny live.

From doing their version of Scrooge and Treasure island even though they are inaccurate but done the way that make them funny. The third and fourth installments are more sketches than feature presentations and shows their singing, acting and Frankie Howerd ad libbing to the point the cast show a smirk and hold their laughs.

They do show some of the cast from Sid, Babs, Charles, Hattie, Kenneth Connor, Peter, Bernie, Joan and Jack, with small appearance by Wendy Richard, Julian Holloway. Each episode is introduced by Peter Rogers the man behind the carry on series, definitely one for the carry on fans.

Corpse Bride 2005.

In a victorian village, Victor Van Dort and Victoria Everglot are to be married, at the rehearsals Victor muddles his lines and near accident he runs to a forest and says the words correctly and places a ring on a branch, which is a finger of a corpse bride and she is resurrected.

This is a dark gothic tale of love and how people wanted to join the high society life by marrying into it, Tim Burton directed this film very well with the help of people he has worked with in his past movies. Johnny Depp provides the voice of Victor and Helena Bonham Carter as Emily the Corpse Bride with a maggot in her that resembles veteran horror actor Peter Lorre. Danny Elfman provides a good background score and songs, still worth a watch 8 out of 10.

A Christmas Story 1983.

1940s 9 year old Ralphie wants for christmas is a Red Ryder Range 200 Shot BB gun.

What starts out as a normal family planning christmas goes from bad to worse with endless laughter, based on the novel by Jean Shepherd who also narrates as Adult Ralphie. In some ways we can relate to some past christmas as not going to plan.

There are some laughable scenes from the arrival of the lamp, bunny costume, and the store's santa grotto and the constant phrase "you'll shoot your eye out". If your lucky go to a chinese restraunt and dont ask them to sing you will get a laugh. 10+.

It Happened on Fifth Avenue (1947)

An utterly wonderful Christmas tale about a drifter and his dog who every year 'move in' to the luxurious New York apartment of a billionaire who vacates the place from November to March. Things start to go haywire when the billionaire's grown up daughter accidentally discovers what is going on.

An charming and heart warming film that's both clever, surprising and funny, the cast are brilliant and the message at the heart of the film is that people are more important than possessions.

This is the fourth time i've watched this film and as a whole i think it's a better movie than It's a Wonderful Life.

Treb, you can watch it on Prime Video, I've got the BD from America, but watch it before you buy it!
