Silent Night Deadly Night

Can't say anything different than what Nicholas said in his post, but thankfully the unrated version gave us a bit more gore.

Silent Night Deadly Night Part 2.

Ok Billy may be dead as Julius Ceasar but little brother Ricky decides to be a loose cannon and live up to big brother's reputation and go nuts at Christmas. Suppose seeing Santa kill your parents would be enough to tip someone over the edge a bit. The Mrs watched these for the first time and looks like these will be watched by her a lot of the festive season.

Silent Night Deadly Night Part 3.

Santa killer Ricky has had his brain remodeled and the doctor uses a blind psychic girl to tap into the comatose killer only for him to re-awaken.

The title for this was "You Better Watch Out" and take note you better watch out...as this was not the best installment, don't be fooled by Bill Moseley being in this as he only says a few words. This was a rushed production and not the original idea that was intended to be, but the kills are very lack and seem off screen. Even though the second is not the best but its a lot better than this one.

Silent Night Deadly Night 4: Initiation.

A reporter investigating the mysterious death of a woman who leaped from a building while on fire.

Brian Yuzna steps into the directors chair for this and manages to incorporate similar things from Society, this goes in a completely different direction from the previous films except a character in this is called Ricky, same person from the previous 2 films...I have no idea.

Maud Adams plays the sweet librarian and also the leader of a witches cult who wants a ceremony performed so she can have her daughter back. Set at Christmas time but was the film on a budget that only one house is seen with the festive decor or was that a added touch for it to be brought in for the franchise as it was originally called Initiation and then Bugs, this was actually enjoyable.

Home Alone 3.1997.

8 year old Alex is given a remote control car unaware there is a chip inside that international spies are after. Alex defends himself with a house full of traps.

This isn't as good as the previous films but certainly this is where the Home Alone franchise should have stopped, I was curious on the 4th and wasted 90+ minutes of my life watching it. Technically Alex isn't home alone all the time, you do have a 8 year old getting left while eceryone is out and a old woman being a back up. There is some funny moments but nothing side splitting.

Bad Santa (2003)

A terrific black comedy in which Billy Bob Thornton plays a crooked department store Santa whose always drunk and alongside 'midget' helper Marcus (Tony Cox) every year rob the store they work in on Christmas Eve.

Often tasteless, rude and offensive, Bad Santa is glorious festive fun. Thornton and Cox are excellent whilst supporting cast Lauren Graham, John Ritter, Bernie Mac and Brett Kelly as the snot nosed kid Thornton moves in with, really make this a Christmas classic.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.

Christmas time with the family is great unless you are Clark W. Griswald and nothing goes to plan, finding the perfect tree and seeing how far you can jump the car. Fixing up the lights and smashing a neighbours window. Getting stuck in the attic that you watch old family movies and not paying attention to where you are sitting and the unexpected arrival of that one cousin you don't want to see. Then you don't get the big bonus and go on good barrage of insults that the cousin decides to have your back that results in S.W.A.T. knocking at the door. Classic comedy.

All Through The House. 2015.

Throughback to the 80s with the killer Santa Claus theme so it's something not original and a borrow from the film The Burning with the killer Claus using garden shears. The plot and twist to this film was decent and something new with some laughs, be advised the killer does go for the..."Family Jewels" a few times. What can make this a bit or slight let down is the acting, the way the dialogue is presented can be painful to hear.

The Legend Of Hell House. 1973.

A parasychologist and his wife are sent to investigate a haunted house along with a physical and mental mediums.

Set in the build up to Christmas 20-24 December) this doesn't seem like it was set in the winter time but more Autumn due to the Belasco House covered in a thick eerie fog. On the same par as The Haunting people wanting to know if evil can live on when people are dead.

Clive Revill playing the lead investigator who doesn't believe in things he can't see and has Pamela Franklin doing two sittings and yet both seem to pan out well he disproves his own theories of ghosts. Roddy McDowell plays Fisher who survived a previous encounter returns to the house and basically let's it rip to the deceased owner but has his own theories on a scientific approach to a haunted house. Gayle Hunnicutt plays the loving wife who is being played by the spirits in a very sexually frustrated way but understands how her husband's approach works.

This isn't exactly a jump scare film but works on more tense moments with a dark atmospheric Gothic type house inside and outside, aside from having a small cast this still entertains.
