Default Storing of your DVDs/Blu rays into film sections

I was wondering how you store your DVDs/Blu rays (Yes I know I am a nosey bugger ) but seriously.

By A to Z
By Genres
By Actor/Actresses

some other

?

I normally do mine under Genres but have them A to Z as that is the easier way I feel*

*Although it is a bit of a bugger when you have a title beginning with say a 'B' as you have to slide C titles thru to Z to fit in film title B. Grrrrrrrr

DVDs alphabetical by title for films and then TV shows have their own section (also alphabetical by title).

Blu-ray I've been sorting alphabetically by distributor, again with TV shows separate. TV Blus are just alphabetical by title though.

Film and TV are separate, but I store them both chronologically.

I ask each film where it would best feel emotionally and physically on the shelf. It is tricky and involves a lot of mediation but is worth it in the end.

A-Z. Regardless of 'section'. Or I might as well put them in a skip and then rummage around blindfolded. Which may explain my bi monthly viewings of Water Power

Ahem. Never mind which order they come in. Have you watched The Shape Of Water yet??

A to z

Directors separate ,
TV and blu ray separate but blu ray still a to z

Even tho a to z if a set eg Fri 13th still keep them all together .

Then everything else together, music video documetries etc

But I also have a app on my mobile ,buy a film scan the barcode and keeps tabs of what I've got in order

I have chronological Dario Argento, Sergio Leone, Tarantino, James Bond, Star Wars and Harry Potter (for my wife) sections. Everything else is organised alphabetically although sequels are placed in chronological order after the original film. Films which start with a number (eg, 28 Days Later or 48 Hours) precede the letter A. Except for the Argento section, dvds are kept separate from blu-rays.

I have Ikea Billy bookcases, which are great for storing on one hand, but blurays can go 2 deep so in that respect it's a pain. I go A-Z on normal catalogue stuff then boutique and specialist labels; Arrow, BFI, Criterion, Severin etc are also A-Z but separate.

The problem is that when you buy a new disc you have to move everything down one, which is way too much hassle so they form an unorganised front row of discs in front of the A-Z and now I'm bursting over full capacity but no rhyme nor reason in the organisation making finding things a bit of a chore. I need more room!
