The Titfield Thunderbolt (1953, Charles Crichton)

A joy to behold. When their local branch is considered untenable by local bigwigs, a plucky band of amateurs decide to keep the liine open by volunteering to run the thing. Facing stiff competition from the local bus company, they struggle to maintain a foothold, but it all works out in the end.
A cast of stalwarts abound.

Man About The House (1974, John Robins)

Cor blimey! That most quaint of British institutions (home ownership) is under assault in this rather flat wee thing tbh. Whilst Yootha Joyce's choicely barbed comments to the original cuck George are a delight, it just sort of bumbles along with a variety of cliches or stock in trade situations. Things pick up when some guests appear near the end (Spike steals the film right there just by dint of his presence cough) but it's too little too late. Not as outright silly as The George & Mildred Movie in fact. Next!!!

The George and Mildred Movie,is pretty poor in comparison,but does have a cracking joke when George goes over to the juke box in the cafe...

Mildred Roper : Obviously, our wedding anniversary means nothing to you anymore.

George Roper : Of course it does, of course it does. And what's more I'll prove it to you.

Mildred Roper : How?

George Roper : By seeing if they've got our tune.

Mildred Roper : [gesturing towards the jukebox] What, on that thing?

George Roper : Yeah. Well, they might have a punk version by the Sox Pistols.

Mildred Roper : The who?

George Roper : Yeah, or even them

The Assassination Bureau (1969, Basil Dearden)

Ollie Reed and Diana Rigg and Telly Savalas? Fond memories of this flick sadly crumbled to dust under this microscope.
When cub reporter Rigg sets Reed a seemingly impossible challenge, a road movie ensues (rail surely cough) as pan European palaver is on the menu. Curt Jurgens harumphs for all he's worth, but it was just a bit dull, sorry .... great set designs and Beryl Reid in goth mode aside. Next!

Somewhat more faithful than the first film ....

Sweeney 2 (1978, Tom Clegg)

The boys are back in town indeed. Featuring the rest of the TV crew this time (and written by Troy phew) this cracking romp gets off to a good start and doesn't let up. The Todd versus bank robbers? It writes itself doesn't it?? As a plus Georgina Hale turns up in an extended cameo to boot. Result? A corker.
REWATCH!!!!

Secret Agent

Lawdy, print looks like arse. For all the effort put into the cover, a title menu that read "Play Film" and "End Credits" should have warned me haha. Yes, you can still watch the bloody film, but tis all fuzzy and that.
Another tale of how good manners and derring do can outwit a fiendish foe (but enough about me Fu Manchu box set hahaha), Lorre is a joy to watch in betwixt all the stiff upper lips (some of the dialogue is a tad muffled sadly).

Po-apoc caper from you know who. A loner travels a bleak and unforgiving landscape. Meets Adric along the way. Shot on vhs. Nothing startling really, competent enough flick.

Where Has Poor Mickey Gone? (1964, Gerry Levy)

A group of louts (featuring a very young John Challis!) end up in trouble when they terrorise Warren Mitchell. An oddity. short and bittersweet, just how I likes 'em ....
Worth a look.
