You had to send away for them didn't you? Came in a wee black envelope type thing. Wish I'd kept them now.

There is a hell of a lot of films that have not been shown for years on TV. I'm talking maybe 15 to 20 years.
They keep repeating the same old crap day and week after week.
It's like they just have a pile in front of them and then just keep taking the top ones off the pile.
Thank God for a channel like Talking Pictures who are showing movies that no other channel would ever show anymore. If we lose that channel then we are well and truly fracked.

I know the doc on The Devils dvd was cut. it was the whole "rape of Christ" part that was removed. It was in the version shown on TV but Warner being the killjoys that they love to be asked for it to be cut from the dvd. The version of Caligula that was shown was specially edited by Channel 4 to remove all the hardcore and identifiable Guccione footage but ran to nearly 140 minutes. The exact same version was shown on Channel 5 only a few months later. I've heard they've discovered a new version and it's being prepared for release.

That's right, i'm not sure if this is right but i'm thinking Bad Lieutenant might have been on as well.

Yeah, you're right. That weekend started with a doc on James Ferman then one on homemade porn then a ten minute piece by Aminatta Forna called "Eyes Wide Shut" in defence of censorship, followed by (uncut) Evil Dead 2 and cut Zombie Flesh Eaters. Sunday had the censorship panel discussion hosted by Mariella Frostrup, then Kermode's argument against censorship then Bad Lieutenant and Salon Kitty. The most disturbing part of the weekend was the episode of some boyband comedy thing starring James Corden that was shown in between the programmes.

Edit. Also I think channel 4 might have been trolling Forna because she was talking about the, in her view correct, decision to censor Perdita Durango. But the clip that was shown contained some of the uncut footage.

Moviedrome was great. I watched loads of the films in the series. It was also the first time I ever saw THE WICKER MAN ( in its extended version ) and absolutely loved it.

Is there a list of movies that were showing on the banned weekend?

I remember Zombie Flesh Eaters was shown, as was Charlie Sheens Boys Next Door.

There was another film it was a slasher movie about a someone murdering school-going teenagers whilst on the school grounds at night with sheers that I remember watching but for the life of me cannot remember what it was called.

It wasn't the Burning.
