A depressing cover for a depressing month?

Hoping they revert back to the original cover. I'm not the 1st to voice my concern about the new art.

The do seem to be. I like their covers. Up there with Criterion. A few people don't like the Repo Man blu-ray art but I think it looks pretty cool. Just Emilio Estevez, the skeleton behind him, and the title. Although, I would buy it if the cover was black with Just Repo Man flashing in pink neon!!

Not fussed on that Eureka! cover art either. Why is it film distributors focus so much time on preserving films but completely ignore the original ad campaigns, like the original posters, which are equally worthy of preservation? Beats me.

The UK Laserdisc of Videodrome was the uncut version. So the BBFC have passed it before.

Did they? I missed that. Okay, not a UK first then.

So, does anyone know if we'll be getting the full version on Blu?

That Two Lane Blacktop cover is original art though. I remember seeing it before and just had a look through some posters. Found one in Spanish and English.

Looks like it might have been used in Australia.

That was the first time it had been uncut. The rental release was pre-cut by CIC, the sell thru video was longer, but as you say the LD marked the debut of the full version in the UK. I bought that disc on the day of release just glad to have if in widescreen, so I wax beside myself when I saw the additional footage as I'd no idea the sell-thru was still shorn of some footage.

Yeah, I just had a look on movieposterDB. You are correct. It was indeed the original poster. I've changed my mind. I'll take it.
