Same here - it has, as you say, been getting terrific reviews.

I think the "pretentious French crap" comment is best ignored.

Holy Motors got great reviews too and I couldn't even finish it, still the worst film I've seen (partially) this year so far

Holy motors was great! I loved that weird, insane little film. I would go into a summarisation of how mad it was, but i'd be here all day!

And it was one of my best of the year - a deconstruction of cinema that is itself incredibly cinematic. I found it exceptional, but horses for courses as they say.

Yeah. Horses for courses. Holy Motors was my second favourite movie of 2012.

I also thought it was brilliant and loved the ending but, as you said, it certainly won't be to everyone's taste.
