"Let Pedro touch you" (The Ferman friendly Hispanic version  )

'Do you know what she did, your loving daughter?' (Ferman's finest dub)

vincenzo 14th January 2010 12:53 PM

My favourite cinema overdub was the hilariously altered "You Fakers!!" in the A/PG version of Saturday Night Fever.

The old TV censoring was equally funny. Namely "Forget you, melonfarmer!" in Repo Man and "I can smell your scent" in Silence Of The Lambs.

I can imagine how good it looks!

Yeah, but to be honest, subs would be difficult for these films, the Roman dialect is not easy to translate and I'm not sure every nuance would get through. For sure its a shame though that not everyone can enjoy these movies without hilarious badly dubbed VHS copies! Still it looks the dogs bollix as they say!:thumb:

Daemonia 14th January 2010 01:06 PM

Basic Instinct also had a hilarious family-friendly dub. What baffles me is that films like this and Silence of the Lambs are aimed at adults, and yet they want to censor them to make them more appropriate for younger viewers. Why? It's insane.

vincenzo 14th January 2010 01:19 PM

The bad old days of late night TV censorship. Luckily it doesn't seem to happen much now unless the channel concerned only has access to an edited print.

What was the famous one from SCARFACE again?

Another film which is crying out for the BR treatment.

"This town is like a great big chicken, waiting to get plucked!" :pound:

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 14th January 2010 10:45 PM

Yeah.That's it....

Anyone know of plans for a blu ray of SCARFACE?

Rob Strange 15th January 2010 12:26 PM

Not heard anything yet mate. Surprising, really - I reckon there must be quite a bit of demand for this. I'm personally waiting for De Palma's Carlito's Way, which is one of my faves of his.

Daemonia 15th January 2010 12:51 PM

Back when HD DVD was still competing against Blu-ray there was a rumour that Universal were prepping Scarface - if that was true, I imagine it's in the works. It's a major title, Universal will definitely put it out at some point, I would think. They'd be pretty stupid not to, it's a guaranteed moneymaker!

The Reaper Man@Cult Labs 19th January 2010 08:36 PM

Well,Amazon still have Arrow down as releasing WHO DARES WINS in March and listed as special features are;
Interview with the producer
ITV Behind the scenes
Commentary with Euan Lloyd and Lewis Collins.

Jeez,Lloyd must be around the 87 mark!

Can anyone from Arrow confirm this guilty treat is still on the cards?

His daughter Rosalind plays Lewis Collins's wife.

She also appeared in The Wild Geese as Roger Moore's girlfriend who gets beaten up by the mob in the casino. Her mom (Lloyd's wife) plays Jack Watson's wife.

Blue Underground also has 'City of the Living Dead' scheduled for 25 May.

Not only are their releases usually Region Free, but they've been doing an excellent job in their digital transfers.
