I do hope it's uncut. I'm not getting my hopes too high, but what with the recent Cannibal Holocaust news, who knows what may happen with this.

But Universal will probably release it region-free across the pond anyway, so there's always that option as well.

I did some advance purchasing a while ago using the £5 off £50 at Zavvi as well as a 10% off voucher and pre-ordered Apocalypse Now, the Scarface Limited Edition Cigar Box and The Lord of the Rings Blu-ray box set. There is something reassuring about having ordered something way in advance as the dispatch e-mail comes as a very nice surprise!

Any one else really not like this artwork for the Scarface Steelbook? I think I will have to end up getting it though, as I cant afford the cigar version and I much prefer steel books over standard plastic cases.

I quite like it as it's a different interpretation of the classic image and I wouldn't want his Steelbook with the same image as I have on two of my DVD's!

From HomeCinema@thedigitalfix (DVD Times):

Optimum have announced the UK Blu-ray Disc release of two World War II films this June. Arriving first is Sam Peckinpah’s Cross of Iron on 6th June, followed a week later on 13th June by Charles Frend’s The Cruel Sea. Also expected the same week (but no details currently available) is another WWII drama Ice Cold in Alex.

Cross of Iron - Sam Peckinpah directs this bloody and thought-provoking depiction of the horrors of war featuring an epic battle of wills between aristocratic Prussian Officer Stransky (Maximilian Schell) and gutsy Sergeant Rolf Steiner (James Coburn).

Digitally restored, features include:

Cross of Iron is one of the few Sam Peckinpah films I haven't seen but, with specs like that, it will be a day one purchase for me, along with Ice Cold in Alex.

I've seen Ice Cold in Alex, which is a superb and beautifully photographed film so it should look outstanding in HD. I love just about every Peckinpah film I've seen, so I don't expect Cross of Iron to be anything less than magnificent!
