I think you're right and that steelbook does look a lot nicer. I just can't justify the extra for steelbooks but I'd rather not have L Ron Hubbard's love child on the cover.

Are any of them out yet? Buio Omega was supposed to be released this week, but I think it's been delayed.
I have Zombie Hlocaust pre-ordered, but it's another couple of months before that's out.

I know there's a couple of Media Blasters and Tokyo Shock releases, but I haven't seen any of those.

If it contains the Unrated Cut (which I think it will), this could be my first CC BD.

I can't recall all the titles but there was more than just Videodrome coming from Criterion .
I don't think any Videodrome dvd's were not the unrated one - even the UK one so we should be ok.

Note that all Criterion Blurays are locked to Region A

Incorrect. The UK DVD of Videodrome was a cut version, for some inexplicable reason. Only the R1 Universal and Criterion releases were of the unrated version. Every other release in the world was of the cut version.

Rewind @ www.dvdcompare.net - Videodrome AKA Zonekiller (1983)
I had the UK Laserdisc of Videodrome which was the unrated version and it seemed a huge jump at the time after the version we had suffered for years with the overzealous cutting by CIC during the video nasties era
The first dvd of it I got was the R1.

I'd always assumed the UK dvd would be the same as the LD- what a backward step

Good stuff! Now let's hope they don't region-lock the disc!
