Aside from the awful German rating (worse than the Irish one), that's a great sleeve...

Anyone know if German Paramount BD's have reversible covers? I really want to get the Beverly Hills Cop collection, but I'll have to pass if i'm stuck with that FSK rating on the front.

You and me both. If a film is referenced in one of Tarantino's movies and he said something about it, whoever holds the rights thinks that's a great time to re-release it with the quote on the front and new artwork because it is magically culturally relevant and cool.

I peronally think Tarantino's great, he's helped push cult movies into the limelight and if that means a lot of distributors want to try and make more money by slapping his name on the box I don't mind, so long as its keeping those releases coming. Basically if its the price to pay for getting quality releases of these films then i'm prepared to pay it.

All said and done, his association with cult film has seen many of the more obscure titles get a release which can only be a good thing.

That's true. It's just the whole 'Quentin Tarantino is the all-knowing God of cult movies' thing which sticks in my craw!

I know it's annoying sometimes, especially when you see titles that would probably sell well on their own merits (Zhang Yimou's HERO, for example) that are afflicted by a "presents" or goofy quote but there's no denying a that he's been influential and/or instrumental getting some of this stuff seen again.
