That Halloween release sounds like a good set but I've bought these films too many times now and already have the full set on blu-ray.

In addition I only really like parts 1-3 anyway so its a pass for me.

I've just posted a comment which says I'm also conflicted because I'm a vegan, but one who thinks the film is significant and important, and all the boycotting in the world won't bring the animals back or reduce their suffering. I've preordered the Grindhouse BD and will watch Cannibal Holocaust yet again. If I had a real problem with the animal cruelty and thought saying something would be worthwhile, I would have raised it when I met Ruggero Deodato earlier this month.

What about all those decades of trip-wiring horses and other associated animal cruelty. Some of which appear in genuine classics of cinema (Peckinpah's films to name but one)?

Personally I think going back over old films looking for animal cruelty and removing it stinks of trying to whitewash the past.

Preserve what happened. Let people know. Make sure it never happens again.

Also forget about trying to classify it based on what is a good film and what isn't.

A lot of the qualities that make a 'good' film are very subjective.

Didn't realize there was so much love for the 'Halloween' sequels!

That's a pretty poorly laid out argument which really just seems to stem from the fact that the person doesn't like the film and thinks its a poorly made schlocky b-movie, which it very much isn't.
keirarts and Boo Radley like this.

"Besides being morally problematic, Cannibal Holocaust is a really bad movie; poorly written, poorly made, and poorly executed. Its little more than a tittie-flick, the kind of movie that panders to the lowest common denominator and gives the entire Horror genre a bad name. In addition to the animal rights violations, this film is also downright racist in its portrayal of indigenous South American tribes."

This kind of comment reminds me of all the people who have condemned the original 'ISOYG' as being nothing more than misogynistic rubbish, which glorifies rape - i.e those people who have never actually seen the film, and base their comments on what they have read!
