I only intended on picking up part 3, but seeing as Amazon.com have it cheap for pre-order, I'm gonna order the boxset instead

At the end of the day, It's still a limited edition, even with another edition out there, and people who sell it will still get their money back. Granted, they won't get silly amounts for it.

I read recently that Twilight Time themselves confirmed they will be re-licensing some of their sold out titles anyway. A little bewildering considering their 'limited' edition business model, but I guess good news for those who missed out. Can't say they'll be getting any cash off me.

In fairness the ltd edition model suits 99% of their output in a market where 'old' films are no longer watched. Classics from the 50's and earlier sadly have a ltd market. Especially if you also factor they are only supposed to be catering for north america.

Personally i'm more pissed at sony for licensing stuff that would actually sell. Actual major releases like Fright night and then acting surprised when it sells out overnight. Especially galling when unlike MGM ect. The stuff isn't turning up anywhere else in the world. It really makes a mockery of Sony's attitude to region coding.

I find some of the Austrian/German tactics of releasing the same film with four separate covers all with ltd print runs in a bid to make fans buy the same film four times as 'investments'

That's far shadier to me.
