"Redemption is quietly leaking to its FB friends that two years of negotiation and restoration have finally paid off, and we will soon be releasing Roger Vadim's VICE AND VIRTUE on Blu-ray and DVD in the U.S. Starring Catherine Deneuve and Annie Girardot, it is a retelling of Marquis de Sade's JUSTINE against the backdrop of the Nazi occupation of France. Virtually unseen in America since its original 1963 release, we think it is a significant rediscovery, and worthy to stand alongside Vadim's BLOOD AND ROSES. Stay tuned for the official release announcement."

From facebook... good news!

Don't be fooled by the great art work. The Phantom Empire is awful. Danning's only in it a few minutes. I have the dvd.

I've never seen that. Would it pass uncut through the BBFC do you think if Arrow were to release it?

Not that i'd buy it anyway as i thought the original sucked.

I was honestly surprised that they passed the first one uncut, so I wouldn't like to commit either way really (you just don't know with the BBFC nowadays which way things are going to swing), however the second one is pretty nasty - arguably more so than the first. There is also some (albeit televised) animal violence as I recall, so I'm not sure how that would fare.

Personally, I love the original Nekromantik (as you can probably guess since Arrow's limited edition release arrived yesterday). Although it's certainly an acquired taste... admittedly a wry smile creeps onto my face whenever I think about the people who have blind bought the set and will be watching it for the first time.

I'm not as big a fan of the sequel though. However, Monika M. is just so lovely and warped it just enhances the film as a whole having her there on screen.
