THE MIST-best King adap for yonks......atmospheric and no studio kindergarden ending.....;) |
Bought an oddity from the US called White Fire http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088359/ The first review starts thus: "Absolutely fantastic trash....this one has it all: nudity, good fight scenes, gore, action, explosions etc. " Sounds like a winner!!! :woot: |

Just recently ordered 'I Miss you hugs and Kisses', 'Cannibal Terror' and 'Nightmare Maker' (That last ones on DVD-R , couldn't find a proper DVD release) going through one of my DPP 74 completist phases that I get into every now and again. Usually lasts until I get frustrated at not being able to find something and give up for a bit :D |
Had a Trash triple bill last night. Watched Leprechaun: Back 2 Da Hood, Sickle (The Slaughterhouse Massacre) and The Curse of El Charro. Terrible films by all standards but I'm a sucker for trashy horror films, old or new I'm not really fussy. Sickle was the worst of a bad bunch. It started out promisingly enough, the first 15 or so minutes were crammed full of enough sex and nudity that you'd be forgiven for thinking you'd accidentally put on a porno. After this however, it slows down to a snails pace and just never gets going, some of the deaths are atrocious aswell. I suppose I can't complain, it only cost me a quid. Out of the three Lep 6 was the best. I've always been a fan of the Lep films (Lep 4 in Space being my favourite, it's a guilty pleasure :p) It was pretty entertaining as far as cheapo-straight to dvd sequels go. |
I can't get into the mood for dvd's at the moment. I recon I watched about 2 , maybe 3 , dvd's max , mid July and all of August. September's now here and I still haven't got round to watching anything yet . It's not like I have nothing new to watch as I won 'Zombies' not long ago and i've a few titles in my 'to watch section' that i've never seen before. Don't know whats wrong. |
Was gonna lift that Sickle shite in Woolies after work the other day, cheers for that HAL!;) |

blu ray isnt all that its cracked up to be,whats the point of having all that room on a disc if theres no extras no enhanced material or bad transfers, not even commando is the directors cut like on the R1 release or a shoddy predator release. |

I've got a few more lined up for the next few days. Trying to get through my back log of cheapo low budget horrors I've aqcuired recently. These ones look even worse :D 666:The Demon Child, Drainiac and Near Death. Looks like its gonna be a long week LOL. |
Yes Sickle was quite awful. I watched it just the other day. |
I saw it in Woolies a while back (for a pound) but decided to pass. Picked up Pieces instead (which looks better every time you see it) and Curfew (which has the exact opposite effect). |

Kyle Richards in a denim mini is appealing but the film itself is boring and bland. The slow-minded brother is John Putch who played Sean Brody in Jaws 3-D. Ferman rejected it for video back in 1988. |

Yes it's fully uncut. Ferman didn't bother suggesting cuts to the film and simply rejected it. His main complaint was the 'walking on glass' scene but basically he just didn't like the film. |

Par for the course for James Ferman. http://www.shameless-films.com/forum...ilies/ack2.gif |
Yes the 80's saw the BBFC at their worst, especially soon after the introduction of the VRA. The year they banned Curfew was also the same year they nonsensically awarded an 18 rating to Whatever Happened to Baby Jane. The year before this they banned numerous films. A very dark period indeed. Another problem with Curfew was that the police are always shown to be thoroughly inept, simply an excuse so the killers can get on with it. Terrible film. |
The cinema certificate for Mother's Day was also rejected by Ferman. Hasn't seen the light of day since in the UK. |

Zone Horror have shown Mothers Day a few times but its always been on at a ridiculously late time slot so i've never got round to watching it. I'm usually awake but I wouldn't put the tv on in the bedroom at that time as the missus would be sleeping, and it's very rarely I would ever watch tv downstairs . I'm not a great sleeper so I use my PSP with headphones to watch films or Game after 1. 30 am, unless we're watching the end of a late film on tv. |
Watching films is pretty much all I have to do at the moment while i'm on graveyard shifts. Sometimes end up going almost a week at a time without seeing my girlfriend, mates, even my house mate. Sometimes end up watching two, sometimes three on a night as I'm up till the early hours and there's sod all on TV. Helps me get through my 'Still to watch' pile though. |
Watched Ken Russell's LAIR OF THE WHITE WORM...feckin' hilarious! We really need more Russell films released.... Amanda Donohoe..:p Classic line from Hugh Grant...... 'Thanks for the warning....I think there may be a reptile still loose on the premises!' |
The Pogues-style theme song (actually performed by Stephen Powys & Emilio Perez Machado ) is a classic. http://www.shameless-films.com/forum...es/biggrin.gif |

My wife (bless her) picked up the following 5 movie mega shite pack from Woolies for me: Pieces, Axe, Sickle, Curfew and the Bachelor Party Massacre Curfew is by far the worst of the bunch, so bad..it's bad :ack: The rest are definitely good fun |
Wish my wife would go out looking for horror dvds for me-you ungrateful git....:jest:;) |
Ungrateful? I think not. My wife goes out of her way to look for movies like this. We share very similar tastes (guess that's why we are married!!!) I can feel your green glow from here Reaps my good friend. |
Haha, he's not being ungrateful, Reaps! Everyone buys rubbish DVDs for me. It's as if telling people you're a horror fan gives them a licence to buy you really bad films as presents. The amount of times I've ended up with pants DVDs that have blatantly cost a quid in some bargain bin as a birthday present while the giver smiles smugly saying "Well, we knew you like horror..." It's not as if I give people a bottle of Tesco Value bubble bath for their birthday going. "Well, I know you like baths..." OK, rant over. |

I have a solution to this Sarah. Apart from my wife (obviously) no-one in my immediate family would have a Scooby-Doo what to buy me DVD wise so I have a big list of stuff saved as Favourites / Shortcuts in my web browser. My darling wife than picks random items and passes the info onto my uncultured family members who then provide in due course Everyone wins!!! :woot: |

The typed word can so easily be misunderstood If I was upset with you mate I would of PM'ed you  |
That's a good plan, in theory. Unfortunately, you haven't counted on the fact that most of my friends are cheapskates... Seriously, I think they just use the horror thing as an excuse to buy cheap presents. I kid you not. I'm solving the problem this Christmas by telling them all I'm too skint to buy presents for them so please don't buy for me! :jest: Sadly, it's the truth anyway! |
I know that Beds.....;) I leave the wife and kids on a Sunday for an hour while I scour HMV....it's getting harder to pick up good films on me day off.....:( Take it you ain't been married long Beds? Take it from me mate.....I remember when love blossomed and 'er indoors would gladly jump into Glasgow for the latest Terror Vision vhs release.....ten year and three mini me's later-all I can say is thank **** for the internet....:D |
