"Bowanga Bowanga", a 1951 trip into the dark heart of Africa which is full of out of place animals courtesy of a lot of stock footage, girls in shammy leather and animal print bikinis and a comedy Italian. Not too bad as these things go, plenty of singing and dancing, cat fights and tastefully posed women against jungle backgrounds.

"Forbidden Daughters" a silent short nudie cutie from the 1920s. A woman travels to Africa to win back her man from a native Princess. Though set in Africa, the majority of the film is taken up with women dancing in a harem. The whole thing is a pleasure from start to finish.

funny story, this was the film i wanted to go and see in London but was outvoted for the over stylized ....Kevin poo fest. im not often wrong, but certainly wasnt on this ocassion!!

RECOMMENDED!!
I loved it too but would not call it film of the year.

I just seen Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

Very average I thought, the CGI apes were kinda let down but I knew this from the trailer. Could have been a better movie but I still prefer the last one to this.

Maniac Cop. An excellent mixture of a police thriller and a horror movie. Great pace, good actors (Tom Atkins! ), clever dialogues, and a nice car chase in the end - add quite a bit of gore, and you'll understand why this is a really enjoyable movie.

3 out of 4

That's why I like it so much I think, it's a bit of a slasher, bit of a thriller bit of an action film and with an excellent chase at the end. Really must pick up Arrow's bluray of this soon.

I watched Silent Night Deadly Night 3:Better Watch Out. last night.

Very poor. Ricky the killer from the first film is woken from a coma and pursues a blind girl and her relatives at their Christmas retreat.

Its best described as a slasher film without any slash or any of the ingredients that make a decent slasher flick. The killer appears to be wandering about with a goldfish bowl on his head to boot.

As my first Christmas film of the year its a poor start.

It has good picture quality, no signs of an overuse of DNR or the like, and - most important - an excellent uncompressed Stereo soundtrack!

I think I'll post some Blu-ray stills later today.

Greetings!

I think I'm gonna work my way through all of these over the coming weeks. I remember seeing the awful Pinocchio Toymaker one years ago with Mickey "I'm going to write to the producers and condemn Silent Night, Deadly Night" Rooney*

* I mean, he was in it, I didn't go to see it with him as a date or anything. Honest

watched The Lift aka the elevator last night ,not a bad film quite enjoyed it rather silly and slow at times but overall good original fun.

I also had the misfortune to have 90 minutes of life wasted watching the diabolical pile of crap known as colony of the dark, the print made vipco look like Blu-ray!! no colour to it at all,the audio was muffled, the acting and camera work a joke, and the film as a whole pathetic

And finally saw He Knows you're alone, not a bad classic slasher but I found it started off with promise and fell flat fast too slow moving also.
